Steve

Today is a special day. The Miss America Pageant is tonight. As many people who know me know, I love the Miss America Pageant!!!!! But, this year it is bittersweet for me. In November, I lost my good friend Steve Maness to cancer. I first met Steve in 1993 when he was my Sunday School teacher at Wedgwood Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. After some time, we discovered that we both had a passion for the Miss America Pageant. We started getting together to watch it every year, which turned into an annual party that was well attended by both men and women, because it was so much fun to watch Steve watch the pageant. Steve was one of the funniest people I have ever known. After being with him, my face would hurt from laughing so much. He was also one of the most intelligent people I have ever known. He had an earned PhD in New Testament. On top of that, he was one of the most talented people I have ever known. He had a professional quality singing voice. He sang in our wedding, and people have commented to us ever since about what a talented singer he was. He was one of my favorite people in the whole world, and he died much too young.....just a few days before his 44th birthday. So, I will be watching the pageant as usual tonight, while remembering my dear friend. Steve......you are missed.
